Prayer Letter Archive

November 2003

Greetings,

The following is a diary of our trip into our Wana tribe from the pilots perspective. Thought you may enjoy reading about it as seeing some of the attached pictures which he took.

Enjoy,

Ed & Jeanne Casteel

Dear All,

I hope you guys don’t mind a blanket report put in diary form to give you an idea of our last trip to Sulawesi. I hope it fills in some of the details. To me it was a great series of flights, only wish the water tanks had showed up on time. Maybe next time.

7 Oct. 10 AM, Working on preparing the helicopter for the trip to Suliwase. Call for help is relayed from MAF radio watch. Pregnant lady in much distress in the village of Kaula Kuren. Needs urgent medical care. Put the helicopter cowlings back on, conduct a preflight and in an hour am over the jungle plains enroute to Kaula Kuren. 45 minutes later I am on the ground. Glad I brought a stretcher. The lady is in bad shape. Takes 15 minutes to load her up. We are then on our way, land Palangka Raya ambulance is waiting to take the lady to the hospital. We think she will recover due to the quick response time of HCM (the helicopter).
