Prayer Letter ArchiveApril 5, 2004 Dear Friends, Greetings from the two of us. It seems we have been meeting ourselves coming and going these days. We want to thank you for your prayers for safety as since the first of the year we have traveled literally thousands of miles. It has been almost four years since our last furlough so we are slowly trying to get around to our supporters in and around scheduled trips to Indonesia. This past month found us down in the valley of the Sun enjoying a wonderful 9 day missions conference there. Jeanne's mom lives in Phoenix so we had the extra side benefit of being able to stay and spend some time with her. Our days were all pretty much filled with mission conference activities and out in different folk's homes but I was able to find some time around the edges to do some jobs around the house that mom is not able to do. We want to thank you for your prayers for Jeanne and the chest pains she had been having. Her heart tests showed no blockages but did show up a mild mitral valve prolapse, which she has had for a number of years. The doctor feels some of her pain could be coming from that and/or acid reflux. This can all be controlled with medication so we are thankful for that. Last month Linda Rosengren was in the hospital for about 2 weeks with stomach pains, diarrhea, and vomiting. She became quite dehydrated so was on IVs much of the time. All of us suspected parasites like amoemba or giardia but the doctors couldn't get a positive test back on it. Finally at Linda's request they put her on "Flagyl" which is a medication for those two parasites and she saw immediate results. Doctors Steve, Ed, & Jeanne didn't do such a bad job diagnosing after all - ha, ha. She is still quite weak but doing better and better each day for which we are all grateful. Some items of praise this month is that everything seems to be coming together for our scheduled trip to Indonesia on April 19. We are happy to report that my flight schedule has been synchronized with Steve's, our tickets are purchased, and just this morning the FED-EX truck pulled up to our house delivering that much needed passport and visa - thank you Lord! We are also happy to let you know that the Lord has provided for us the Satellite telephone we had asked prayer for along with sufficient funds to cover my airline ticket cost to Indonesia and back. It has been really neat to see how the Lord has been meeting these travel expenses for our trips back and forth to Indonesia. "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." This trip over will be packed as usual with jobs and acitivites to do. We have been busy trying to get everything organized. The pilot from Heli-Mission on the island of Borneo just received clearance to do our flights last week. Besides all the teaching time scheduled, we are planning to use the helicopter to transport some of our evangelists further out into the bush to the area of the "Kayu Morangka" people. We have had a couple of our Wana families assigned to this job but due to the isolation of the area the logistics of it all has been difficult. We also have 474 verses in Luke which we would like to do further comprehension checking on before we do the final check with our mission checker. And we also want to work on getting SSB radio service set up in some of our other villages. Pray for peace and safety in our district during this time and also please pray for health and strength for Steve and I as we look forward to being with our Wana folks. We want to thank you so much again for your prayers this past month. Your part on our team is very much appreciated. Due to my trip to Indonesia it will probably be June before my next letter but I will try and keep those with email updated throughout my trip. Must close for now. In His Love, Ed & Jeanne |
