12 Oct 5:30 AM I wake to the first rays of the rising sun breaking the mountain ranges. I feel something different, my back hardly hurts. I have my morning devotions perched on a rock in Ed’s yard. I can see forever down the valley. I feel small and insignificant against the backdrop of the towering mountains.
9 AM we load up and head to Wo Touwe. It takes us 7 minutes 38 seconds. Ed said they used to walk it in about 2 days. We will be spending the day, night and part of the the 13th at Wo Touwe. The highlight of the trip for me was that night listening to one of village elders explain to Ed and Steve that a few years ago he had heard about helicopters from young people who had left the village to study in the outside world. He immediately thought that is what we need here. But then they told him how expensive a helicopter was. He said he was staggered at the cost. But he resolved to pray "big prayers" if there was ever going to be a helicopter in the valley. He said God answers "big prayers." The proof was HCM sitting outside on the soccer field. I was deeply moved by the faith of this poor itinerate evangelist that God would bring a helicopter to their valley. I turn in at 10 PM. I sleep in the "Trinity Field Cabin" as I have nicknamed the tent given to us by Trinity Evangelical Free Church for the work here.
