Prayer Letter ArchiveJanuary 2006HAPPY NEW YEARS FROM THE REICHMANS!!! We sure hope and pray you had a nice Christmas and New Year. These past months while we were home, we’ve sure enjoyed the comforts of America. We took a picture of our freezer full of ice cream so we can remember the good ole days after we return to PNG on January 9th. We’re all grateful for the expertise and kindness of Dr. Wada. She spent days getting all our teeth back in order! Being in Hawaii we had to spend some time on the beach.
Mariko had a few unique experiences. She slipped on a piece of ice and hurt her arm. At first we thought it was dislocated so I had her lay on the floor and stuck my foot in her armpit then gently pulled her arm in an attempt to pop the socket back in joint. That didn’t work so we took her to the hospital where an x-ray showed a broken arm. (so much for my diagnosis) That took care of her ice skating and surfing days. She also got to sing on the beaches of Waikiki.
Jared has been a hard worker and helping out wherever he can but some times we found him just hanging around. He did complete a ground school in preparation to becoming a bush pilot. Unfortunately, he’ll have to wait for our next home assignment in 4 years to continue his training. He and Mariko were able to continue with guitar lessons from their excellent teacher, Pastor. Mark Turansky.
Micah is settled in his studio apartment going to electronics school and selling fridges at Sears. He also buys and sells motorcycles on the side. At the moment he’s borrowing Mariko’s sling as he flipped his bike and broke his collarbone. We rescued the bike with our van.
Joan has enjoyed being home with her family, taking her Mom to the Doctors and going out with her friends. I’ve been the chauffeur taking the kids all around.
You can pray our van and car sells and that we will be able to get things back in order when we get back to PNG. Our house has been broken in to, our generator and water pump died, the supply barge quite coming, the phone is down and lastly, our cat died. Those were all the good things we heard. I’m sure we’ve got a few challenges ahead of us.
Take care! In Christian Love, Mark and Joan Reichman |
