Prayer Letter Archive

April 2006

Dear Friends,

We have two things you can be praying about. One is a request from our Mission school. The other is regarding our supply boat.

Here's the first prayer request:

Help! We have an urgent need for a teacher for our Hoskins Base K-8 school for missionary children. Can you help us?

You might be wondering, "What can I do? I'm not a teacher!"

Would you please pray that we could find a teacher right away? Our current teacher will be leaving us in June and we have no one to replace her (yet).

Do you know anyone to whom you can pass on this urgent need? We are confident that God has someone that will respond to this call for help, a Christian man or woman, young or old, that is a qualified teacher willing to serve the Lord in Papua New Guinea for a year (or more!). Malango School has been in existence since 1988; we're confident God wants us to continue operating our school.

Will you help by coming, or by praying and passing this info on to a teacher you know?

The second thing you can be praying about is our supply boat. The engine needs to be rebuilt or changed. I've decided with much deliberation to change the engine with an outboard. We are presently in a town and are Praising the Lord for His timing! Two weeks ago, a local businessman installed new motors on his boat and was looking to sell his old motors. Then I showed up. He was just as happy as I was. Although, his motors are old, they are cheaper than my other option. I’ll have $8K into the transformation but a new motor and setup is $22K.

The next day I went to give a deposit for the engines. I noticed a police vehicle in the parking lot and later was told that the business had just been held up a half hour before I got there. Thankfully no one was hurt. Please pray for James who sold me the motors as the armed robbery was quite an experience. I’m glad he didn’t change his selling price! Pray too for the shipping of the engines and getting the boat ready for the engine installation. It will be a lot of work and it would be great if we can get the boat up and running by the end of the month to do a survey as to where to place a new missionary team.
