Do you believe in miracles? We’ll we just experienced one. Our phone works! A technician came and fixed the signal and I ran around town fixing the wires and it works! Our joy was short lived though as only 6 out of the 10 phones in town worked so one of the guys who’s phone wasn’t working cut the main cable so nobody’s would work. I spent better part of the day joining wires…again. |
| It’s been 5 years now that a villager up the coast asked for missionaries to come to his village. We have not had a couple new families to send up there since that request. However, this year a number of young families are coming to work in Papua New Guinea and a couple are here now so we told them of this village that has waited 5 years. Because our big boat is still not working, we set out in a small “dinghy” and thankfully the seas were calm as the boat had little freeboard to spare. |

We visited 7 coastal villages all having the same language. Some villages were happy to see us and requested we locate in their village. A couple villages, the “chief” was not too happy about our visit. The first night we slept and rocks along the bank of a river and the local people posted a couple “guards” to watch us during the night. Not that they were watching us, they were afraid we might get eaten by crocodiles that frequented the area. Later in the evening when I went to wash up, they suggested I throw a couple rocks in the water…just in case. |
| One night a villager was talking to one of the National Bible Teachers that we brought along and he said, “I’ve been hoping for years that someone would come here and teach us God’s word. We wear our religion like a t-shirt and put it on and take it off when we want. We need to hear and understand what God’s Word says.” Pray for these young families as they consider where to locate in the “Akolet” area. |

We’ve been getting the boat ready for the outboard motor. Jared and I have had a few itchy nights as we’ve had to do a bit of fiber glassing to cover the old sterndrive hole in the back of the boat. The engine is supposed to come next week on a barge and other needed parts will be coming from Australia and America. Pray we get everything and can make it all work. |
| Pray for Mieko, her kitty was sick but probably was going to get better until he wandered under the truck tire. He died tonight. It was sad. He will be missed as he was such a playful and hyper yet cuddly kitten. |
