I Need an Anchor

anchor_01Do you feel like your life is in the middle of a storm? There were many times in my life when the water was not smooth. I felt like a ship tossed on the ocean. While going through cancer, the water was rough and the wind was crazy. It felt like my boat was in a hurricane, not just a storm.

My heart cried out for an anchor. I knew that the storm was going to rage on for a while. (scans, tests, surgery, chemotherapy) I needed something to keep me stable within the storm.I needed an anchor!

I found my anchor in God's word. (Psalm 119:42 I trust in your word.) Reading in the book of Psalm was how I kept my mind from being swamped by each wave of the storm. I became anchored in His words. I began to repeat verses such as Psalm 37:39. The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord, He is their stronghold in times of trouble. And Psalm 91:1. God, you are my refuge. I trust in you and I'm safe. And also Psalm 92:15. The Lord is my Rock. After the storm, I'm hoping to remember to thank him for his firm foundation. (Psalm 95:1 Come let us sing for joy to the Lord, let us shout aloud to the rock of our salvation.) I can't wait to be done with this storm! I will be so glad to be on the other side and be singing praise to my rock.

I pray your storm will lead you to the anchor and through the storm. We will praise Him together when we all reach the calm, still, smooth water. Hang on to God's words!

Psalm 57:1 I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.

Psalm 61: 2-3 I call as my heart grows faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me for in you my soul takes refuge.

Psalm 28: 7 The Lord is my strength and my shield, my heart trusts in him and I am helped.

Psalm 112:7 A righteous man will have no fear of bad news, his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. Who should you trust during the storm? How about the one who can control the wind and the waves?

Luke 8: 24 He (Jesus) got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.(Read about it in Matthew 8:23-27; Mark 4:35-41 and Luke 8: 22-25). If you don't have a Bible, here's a link to an online one: BibleGateway
