Dealing with the Diagnosis

God Can Be Trusted in the Dark

2 Samuel 22:29 Lord, you are my light! You make my darkness bright.

trust_in_dark01"It is stage two ovarian cancer." These are not the words you want the doctor to tell you! Knowing you have cancer is a blow. The number they attach to it to tells you how advanced it is. It is not a welcome statement! Suddenly your whole world goes dark.

When you walk into a dark house, you quickly try to find the nearest light switch. You don't want to stumble or fall over anything. In my struggles to make sense of it all, I decided to try to read the Bible, to try to hear any word from God. Maybe I could find one Bible verse that would be a light to my heart in a dark time. I found many in the book of Psalms. I wrote these verses in my journal and re-read them when I felt the dark closing in on me.

Are you in the dark today? I am hoping you will keep reading God's word as it is the LAMP in the dark night. (Psalm 119:105)

Psalm 43:3 O Lord, send forth your light and your truth. Let them guide me.

Psalm 18:28 You, O Lord, keep my lamp burning, my God turns my darkness into light.

Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and salvation, whom shall I fear?

Psalm 56: 3-4, 13 When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise. In God I trust, I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me? For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling that I may walk before God in the light of life.

Psalm 125:1 Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken.

Job 35:10 God my maker, gives songs in the night.

Psalm 87:1 O Lord, the God who saves me, day and night I cry out before you.

Keep the light on!
