Happy New Year!

Greetings All,

With this short note we want say that we trust that you all had a very Merry Christmas and we wish you a very Happy and Blessed New Year! All three of our Wana co-worker families traveled home for the holidays so are spending time in their respective home villages visiting family and friends. Miyanto and Rone (one of the couples) had to make an unplanned trip out to town and to the hospital a few days ago as Rone was bit by a rabid dog and had to start a rabies shots. We felt badly that their Christmas time had to be interrrupted by this but thankful they could find medical facilities not too far away which could help them.

The tradition in Wana for Christmas it to read through and explain the whole Christmas story over a two night period with songs and special numbers interspersed throughout each meeting. The villages are usually packed as nearly everyone returns to their home village for this time of year. A big feast is also planned with many pigs and chickens being butchered and everyone enjoying eating together. For News Eve they will also hold a long church service ending at midnight with everyone shaking hands and wishing each other a Happy New Year. It is hard to believe that we have been working with the Wana people now for 37 years. It is a blessing to look over those years and see what God has done in their hearts and lives as He has led them out of spiritual bondage into the kingdom of His dear Son. May God Bless You as we enter the year of 2017!

What a difference having the Word of God in their hands and in their language has made in their lives.

Meeting with the chuch leaders at our house – we are certainly blessed with a great group of men who are willing to serve in this way.

“You will just have to figure out for yourself what I want for Christmas.”
