Thank you so much for your love and prayers for us and our Hewa friends. We are deeply grateful for your part in sharing the love of Jesus with the Hewa tribal people of Papua New Guinea.

Learning fever has hit Hewa! Right now as we are between teaching new books of the Bible, several people expressed interest in a new literacy course. Susan thought it might be a good opportunity to train more of her previous students to become future teachers, so she offered to oversee a new class. She was shocked, though, when there was so much interest that she had to start two classes instead of just one. Then the small children said they also wanted to be taught so now she is overseeing an adult class, and a children’s class that spans the ages of 6 through 14, and then an introductory class for the small children ages 2-5 (the youngest shown in picture on the right). Susan has chosen several men and women to be her assistants so she can prepare them to become future teachers.

Thank you for praying for the four women and their children who were accused of causing death during the “witch court” in the village of Fiyawena last November. We are continuing to hear good reports since we met with the leaders of that village, and so far have not heard of any new murders in the mountains around us. One of the four accused women and one of her daughters hiked here to our village for safety and I am told that two of the others are in the process of coming here so that we can help them get adopted into a safe village far away from the trouble causers.

In the meantime, we continue to hope and pray the Lord changes the hearts of those who have been obsessed with murdering innocent women and children for supposedly causing sickness and death. Susan and I are very thankful to now live in a village where the men have completely rejected those practices of the ancestors to devote themselves to growing in the Lord.

Praise and Prayer

Praise the Lord for the learning fever in our village right now. Pray they will continue to have that same enthusiasm for growing in their relationship with the Lord.
Praise the Lord with us that so far the four accused women and their children have escaped harm.
Pray for Mikayla as she continues to suffer spinal pain while attending University.
Pray for Micah as he prepares to join the military.
Pray for the upcoming evangelistic outreaches to two other villages. There have been several snags that have postponed the start dates, but the villagers are continuing to express their desire for men to come teach them the Gospel as soon as the details are worked out.

Thank you for your love and prayers! We deeply appreciate your part in reaching out to the Hewa tribal people with the Love of Jesus.

Thank you!
