December 2015

Thank you so much for your love and prayers and gifts! We are deeply grateful for your part in reaching the Hewa people with the love of Jesus. Thank you!

Mikayla will be graduating from BIOLA University in two weeks! We are very proud of her dedication and perseverance despite ongoing pain. As soon as her graduation is complete, she will turn her focus to a semester of studies to pass the MCAT exams, which are necessary before applying for medical school. Please pray the Lord provides an affordable medical education so she can continue with her dream to become a missionary doctor. After Mikayla’s graduation, we plan to drive to Florida to spend Christmas with Susan’s family, and then to return to Papua New Guinea in late January.

Our coworker, John George, has official completed his language and culture studies of the Hewa language! We are very thankful that John and Jessi joined us in the Hewa effort, and it has been beautiful to watch them develop a love and passion for the Hewa. We are excited that John is now ready to join us in teaching and translating the Bible.

Please be in prayer for growing tensions in Hewa as there have been at least five murders in the mountains surrounding our village in 2015, and there are increasing threats for more. Please pray for protection, and that the violence will not dampen faith in Jesus that has been growing and spreading. Pray John and Jessi will have wisdom to know how to love and encourage the believers, and to know when it is safe to live in the village or when it is wiser to temporarily relocate to town.

Praise and Prayer

  • Praise that Mikayla will be graduating from college this month.
  • Praise that our coworker, John George, has passed his final language and culture evaluation.
  • Pray the Lord will bring peace to Hewa and safety for the believers. Pray the believers will grow in faith and love, and that trust in Jesus will spread all over those mountains.
  • Praise that it has started to rain again in Hewa, but please pray for provision of food between now and the time their gardens start to produce. The long drought has destroyed their food supply.
  • Pray for the outreach to the village of Yano. The literacy course is successfully completed, but the teachers are waiting for resolution for ongoing problems before starting phase one teaching.

Thank you for your love and prayers and gifts! We deeply appreciate you!
