June 2013

Our last day of school was on the 22nd of May. Of course there were plenty of year end activities to keep the kids busy.  We went to the zoo in Sanford and had a great time. We did what they call an “Animal Encounter”.  We were able to get up close and personal with a few of the animal residents.  I think the small hedgehog was the favorite of my class. I’m not  into snakes, but the millipede was fun to look at and touch.  These were just a few of God’s special creatures that we learned about that day.  The photo below shows one of my students inside of a NASA space suit on our field trip to  Wonderworks in Orlando.  We got to experience hurricane strength winds, what it feels like to be in an earthquake, as well as see how fast we could throw a ball.  I think the bubble lab would be voted the most fun science experience of the day.  I had some good times together with my class and a lot of learning took place.

At this point I am not sure what the next school year holds for me. Since the kindergarten teacher officially retired at the end of this school year, I will now be able to move back into my favorite teaching position. I feel most comfortable in a kindergarten classroom as I teach and interact with the younger ones in a school setting.  At this point in time there is only one kindergarten student registered to attend our school for missionary children next year. It looks like the kindergarten class will be canceled for next year and I will have to fit in somewhere else in the school. The school already has teachers for the first and second grade class, the third and fourth grade class, and the fifth grade class, therefore I am not certain what I will be doing.  There are several options on the table and no decisions have been made yet. Our new school year will begin on August 8th, so there is still plenty of time to figure things out.

Next week the electrical power will be shut off to the building where Brad works. There is a big building project going on here at NTM Homes and things are progressing nicely. A large chapel with a wing of administrative and business offices is nearing completion. Just this week the air conditioner was turned on in this new section of the building. Next week the power has to be cut off to the entire building so that everything can be connected up to the new building. I don’t understand all that needs to be done, but it will be a huge job. In order to get ready for this, a lot of work has been going on behind the scenes. All of the residents of the Assisted Living Facility, as well as the Independent Wing, will be moved to other places for the week. Some are going to live with family members, others will be staying with staff families or other retired residents, and some are looking forward to the adventure. This does mean added responsibilities for some of  our staff members here. Since no one (except the electricians and workers) will be allowed in the building next week, the mail has to be delivered, nurses will need to give out medicines to the different residents, and other responsibilities take on a new dimension. There will be no power to Brad’s office,  so he will not be able to go to work as normal. He put in some time on Saturday so that he could pay some bills and generate the end of month reports.  He will be on call for anything that may come up next week.

At the end of next week Brad and I will be taking a trip north. We are still making plans and are not sure if we will be leaving Florida on Thursday June 6th or Friday June 7th. We are headed to Maryland, which is where Brad grew up and is also where our main support base is located. My last trip to Maryland was for Christmas of 2011, so I am looking forward to seeing family and friends once again! We are still in the process of making plans to visit different churches in the tri-state area of  Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. We would also like to see many of you  when we are in this area.  After we leave home you can email me with the email on our home page and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Brad needs to be back in the office on Tuesday June 25th so we plan to arrive back home in Florida on the 24th.  It will be a quick  trip, but one that we are both looking forward to.

We so appreciate you and the part you play in our lives. We are very thankful to be part of the team reaching the world with the precious good news of the gospel. Daily I receive e-mails asking for prayers for the different ones who are learning culture and language, translating the scriptures, teaching evangelistic Bible lessons, and  helping the new and mature believers in their walk with the Savior. It takes a variety of people with different ministry gifts to see this job accomplished.  You are part of that team that God is using to build His church around the world.

Please pray:

  • For the construction project and all the electrical things that need to be accomplished next week in the Latham Center building.
  • For our Latham Center residents as things will be different for all of them this coming week.
  • For Brad as he completes his end of month reports, pays bills, and does all the things that need to be done before we leave for Maryland.
  • Our ministry trip to Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania in the middle of June.
  • That I will patiently wait on the Lord  for what He has for me at school in August and next school year.

Resting in Him,

Wanda (and Brad) Hull
